PERSONALITY: Damon Salvatore is a heartless, manipulative bastard with only his own interests at heart and absolutely no concern for anything or anybody. At least, that's what he'd like people to believe. While the parts about being manipulative and a bastard (at least in spirit) hold more than enough weight, Damon's ability to care is what is the most dubious aspect of his personality.
The self-proclaimed 'bad brother', Damon has always preferred living on his own without anything to tie him down or force him to admit to that part of himself that he attempts to keep buried, but when it is all boiled down to its base roots, Damon cares too much sometimes, to an almost psychotic degree, and usually about people who prefer to either abuse, betray, or dismiss him. It is this tendency that has left him burned by his feelings far too often that he has become wary of them. Having shut out his emotions for decades, blocking off the part of him that had to deal with crippling things like concern, remorse, and regret, he does know how to make himself feel little to nothing in regards to his actions, but the circumstances of his return to Mystic Falls have slowly pushed him out of that lull of a comfort zone and directly into territory that he doesn't want to deal with.
As Alaric once said, "you're a dick, and you kill people, but hell, I can still see something human in you," since arriving in Mystic Falls, his old home town, Damon has found himself slowly transforming from the person who embraced all the darkness that being a vampire had to offer and caring little for the pestilent human element into the person who allows his feelings to exist and, despite his concerns, has a burgeoning desire to protect the people in the town. Sincerity, gratitude, affection, they're all things that he hasn't done in a long time, and they're all things that he's still very awkward about. Even then, it isn't as though he's going to go all Mister Rogers on everyone. No sense in stealing Stefan's shtick when he's got his own that works so well.
ABILITIES: As a vampire, Damon has a great deal of abilities, both active and passive, that he is able to utilize. The strength of them often depends upon the quality and amount of his most recent feeding, but even when starving, he has proven himself able to use his residual energy to accomplish great tasks. Among his abilities are: accelerated healing, astral projection, dream manipulation, enhanced reflexes, enhanced hearing, mental compulsion, and increased speed and strength.
WEAKNESSES: Women make up Damon's strongest weakness, specifically Katherine Pierce & Elena Gilbert, but as a vampire only, Damon has a weakness vervain, as the herb cancels out the effects of his abilities as either injected or ingested temporarily paralyzes him. His weakness to sunlight is negated by a spelled ring given to him by Elizabeth Bennett immediately after he was turned, but if he isn't wearing the ring, he is just as vulnerable as any other vampire to the sun's rays. Fire or a stake through the heart will also kill him, but he does his best to avoid getting put in situations that would end in either of those two ways. Even though they're not always avoidable.

WHY HAS YOUR CHARACTER CAUGHT THE EYE OF THE COLLECTOR?: Because, even as many abnormal, celestials, and various other creatures populate Colligo, there isn't one vampire. This situation had to be corrected.
